Creative projects can quickly exceed budget, yet Spotlight’s VIP programme has helped me control costs. Over the past three years at CupoNation New Zealand, I have used member-exclusive discounts and early access sale events to stock up on fabrics and craft supplies. Waiting for storewide events instead of buying materials individually has consistently worked in my favour. I also update this Spotlight page bi-weekly, highlighting major sales as they return.
Whether you're sewing curtains, refreshing the bedroom or gathering supplies for a weekend craft project, Spotlight is a familiar stop for creative Kiwis. Fabrics, bedding, yarn and home décor can quickly become expensive when you're tackling a larger project, so discounts on regular-priced products are especially useful. One Spotlight promo code we've featured offered 40% OFF selected full-priced items, which can be activated with a minimum spend of NZ$150 on fabric purchases and brings your total purchase to NZ$90. That's NZ$60 saved without having to wait for those particular materials to enter the clearance section. We recommend checking product exclusions and Spotlight VIP Club offers before shopping, as different promotions may apply to different ranges. Finding these practical savings is why we keep looking for Spotlight deals that make your next home project easier on the budget.
Subscribe to the Spotlight email newsletter to receive an exclusive 40% discount link via email for fashion and home lines. Valid for subscribers.
This free membership is designed to give you quick voucher value, plus ongoing access to member-only discounts. When you join, you receive an NZ$10 discount code for your first order, and you receive another NZ$10 discount code on your birthday each year.
Members also get exclusive access to events and sales, and can score 10% up to 40% exclusive discounts on selected categories, including wallpapers, party merchandise, and curtain sets.
The savings here come from treating the vouchers as planned reductions, then using member-only discounts for the higher cost items where percentage savings matter more. If you are buying larger home or party supplies, it is often better to apply the strongest percentage discount to the expensive line items, then use the NZ$10 code to reduce the total further.
Spending NZ$120 at Spotlight qualifies for free standard delivery; otherwise, a NZ$9.99 fee applies, with bulky items ranging from NZ$14.99 to NZ$34.99 and excluded from free shipping. Click & Collect is available within an hour at nearby stores. Reviewing item size and weight before checkout helps prevent unexpected freight costs, especially for large craft or furniture pieces.
Spotlight gift cards are available between NZ$10 and NZ$500 and are popular during major holiday seasons when shoppers purchase décor and craft supplies. Choosing a balanced value allows recipients to explore both essentials and decorative extras. We find them particularly practical for new homeowners furnishing multiple spaces.
Zip is widely used at Spotlight, allowing payments to be split into 4 instalments over 5 weeks. For home upgrades or larger fabric purchases, dividing the cost can make budgeting more manageable. Planning repayments alongside other commitments keeps instalment options helpful rather than burdensome.
If you find the same in-stock item within 30km at a lower price, Spotlight will match it and reduce the matched price by a further 10%, provided brand and model details are identical. Gathering proof of the competitor’s price before contacting customer service strengthens your claim. We always verify stock availability carefully, as eligibility depends on the item being currently available at both retailers.
